Nick Carver is a working photographer and photography teacher based in Orange County, CA. His professional work centers primarily on architectural photography for commercial properties (office buildings, industrial buildings, retail centers, hospitality), and through his online photography courses Nick delivers instruction to hundreds of students in over 30 countries worldwide. He also boasts over 14 years experience teaching students through photography classes, workshops, and private photography lessons in Southern California.
Nick’s career reflects a deep-seated dedication to the craft of photography with a notable enthusiasm for traditional analog film photography. You may recognize him from his popular YouTube channel wherein he takes viewers into the classroom and out in the field to share the process behind his work. There you’ll find him using cameras of all types and film formats that range from 645 to 6x17 to large format 4x5. You may also find him sipping a cocktail while pontificating on the virtues of reflected spot meters over incident meters.
Through his online photography courses, Nick offers some of the most clear and effective instruction available on the techniques and artistry of digital and film photography. His talent for teaching has made his in-depth courses some of the most highly-rated on the internet. And with the launch of his “Master Manual Metering for Film Photography” online course in 2019, Nick continues to prove his dedication to forwarding the craft of analog photography as well as his passion for sharing his knowledge with the photography community.
While analog film serves as the primary medium in his personal work, digital photography remains a regularly-used medium in his daily shooting. His portfolio of images reflects his love for the American Southwest, wide-open landscapes, and quiet reflections on mankind’s less-celebrated creations.
